Week of World Water Day, 2006
Wow! This has been an incredible week!

On Tuesday, March 21st, I rented a car and drove to Atikokan, Ontario with my friend Cory. We were greeted with a warm welcome from the folks at Souris River Canoes. Keith Robinson, the owner of the business, took us on a tour of their manufacturing facility. I picked up my boat and I am very happy with it. It is the Tranquility Solo model, with the optional Seal Line rudder system and Northwater spray deck. In response to my request, Keith put an extra durable expedition layup on the canoe. Thanks Keith!

On Wednesday, March 22nd, World Water Day, I took my canoe out to Silver Islet on Lake Superior to take it for a test run. It was a bit scary paddling in frigid water all alone. I resolved to stay as close to shore as possible. As I pushed off, it began to snow.
My tensions eased as I rounded the corner of Burnt Island. I yelled to a gull on shore, "Hey! Mr. seagull! Check out my new canoe. Isn't it nice?" The gull squawked and nodded his head in agreement before flying off.
After less than an hour of paddling, I found myself in near blizzard conditions. Visibility was poor, so I headed back to the car to be on the safe side.

The website was put online this week and is now fully operational. It can be reached at www.waterforfuturegenerations.com , www.waterforfuturegenerations.org , or www.wffg.ca I would like to thank Mike Sharples for all of his hard work on the site.
